Vermonters know when the days are warm and the nights are cold sugaring season is upon us. That sweet fresh maple syrup is a staple in many Vermonters diet thanks to its’ versatility. Speaking of, maple syrup is so versatile that you can incorporate it into your skin care routine. Let’s look at the beauty benefits and different ways to incorporate Vermont maple syrup into your skin care routine.

Antioxidants: Pure maple syrup is rich in antioxidants that help keep your skin young and fresh. The antioxidant within maple syrup helps prevent wrinkles and curbs the effect of free radical damage to the skin.

Anti-Inflammatory: Pure maple syrup contains anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce inflammation on your skin, specifically acne.

So how can you incorporate the sweet stuff into your beauty routine? Here are a few of my favorites based on skin care concern!

Acne: Simply put Vermont maple syrup onto effected acne area for 15 minutes, let sit, and remove with warm water. The maple syrup will work it's anti-inflammatory magic and reduce redness and inflammation associated with acne.

Anti-aging: Pure maple syrup contains humectant properties meaning it helps the skin retain moisture. As we age our skin desperately needs moisture in order to retain elasticity. Throw together this simple mask containing maple syrup and aloe vera for a dose of antioxidants to combat those fine lines and wrinkles. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Dryness: Make a scrub with it! I love this scrub that you can make at home from Oleum Vera. This exfoliating scrub contains maple syrup, ground oats, milk, and orange essential oil. Oleum Vera states, “Cow’s milk contains lactic acid, which can act as a gentle exfoliator. Removing dead skin cells helps the nutrients in maple syrup hydrate and moisturize the skin. Ground oats are highly absorbent and hypoallergenic, and help to soften the skin. The gently exfoliating grains can also be used to soothe skin conditions like eczema.”
