Sam DiNatale is a proud member of the Woodstock community, school board, and the owner of the Woodstock institution Mon Vert Café. Coffee shops and café’s are the heartbeat of a town, it’s the perfect place for locals and tourists alike and Mon Vert welcomes everyone with open arms.
Growing up in a Sicilian household meant eating REAL food was common practice. When Sam began her career it was natural for her to choose the food industry. She began baking at the Woodstock Farmers market and then became the pastry chef at The Worthy Kitchen. It was always Sams dream to own a coffee house and in 2015 her dream came true, she purchased Mon Vert Café.
The café is located in the heart of Woodstock, Vermont. A crisp white building with high-pitched roofs and wood accents settles perfectly into the quaint surroundings of Woodstock. Casual outdoor seating is available as well as two levels on the interior, you are sure to find a comfortable place to have a tasty meal and some strong coffee. But first, you walk into a cleverly placed display case of pastries and delicacies that you can’t say no to. (I literally couldn’t say no, sorry summer bod). The coffee specials are listed on a rustic kraft paper roll behind the barista and the menu is easy to read above the rustic wood counter.
So what is Mon Vert all about? LOCAL. FRESH. ORGANIC. Mon Vert is a stones throw away from producers and vendors that supply resources to the café. The Woodstock community is ideal for eateries that concentrate on fresh and organic ingredients; with so many resources it’s easy to offer your customers the best ingredients while still supporting your community. Mon Vert specializes in hearty meals and bold coffee. Breakfast and lunch are served seven days a week as well as artisanal coffee & espresso drinks, organic teas, wine and craft beers.
Things are always changing at Mon Vert, specifically with the seasons. Food specials and drink specials change habitually and there are favorites that keep locals and visitors coming back. During foliage the Butterbeer Latte is all the rage and during the winter months the eggnog latte will keep you in the holiday spirit. I tried the London Fog latte and it was phenomenal, from the presentation to the flavor it was absolute perfection. My husband is a cold brew fanatic and he loved the Vietnamese cold brew, which has also been a huge hit with the customers of Mon Vert.
If you are looking to satisfy your hunger pains look no further than Mon Vert. DiNatale recommends their breakfast burrito to start your morning off right, with two scrambled eggs, housemade pico de gallo, blackbeans, chipotle aioli, Cabot cheddar placed in a whole wheat wrap your breakfast cravings will be satisfied. DiNatale also recommends Mon Verts’ Coffee House Brisket for lunch, featuring their own coffee marinated brisket, with pickled red onions, basil aioli, raw rupert cheese, shredded carrots, and arugula on an organic baguette.
